“Interest shapes fuel my desire to grab a brush and paint. Whatever inspires me becomes a puzzle shape in my mind. Whether landscape, still life or a figure is the main subject, it is a starting point of creativity, not a photograph to copy. Design shapes accordian down a hill, a festive still life does a table dance and figurative images celebrate deja vu moments”.
The subject is frequently fractured or partially repeated to create visual energy. It
becomes a “what if” game of orchestrating through shifting, re-arranging and repetition. Even then, according to Judy, “Paintings are like children. Some are easier to raise than other. Only when all shapes compliment each other and play well together does a painting leave the studio,” Welcome to Judyland
